IT NEVER SLOWS DOWN!

I keep waiting for that magical day when things will slow down enough that I can do all the calm, fun things that I have listed in my head....It's not going to happen is it?

YUCK, That ain't Mickey Mouse!!!

I just might loose it! This last couple of days has tested my patience and gag reflex remarkably. Besides having a sick baby...(throwing up for days) I have had a bit of a PEST problem at my house.

I was reading in my bed on Friday night when I heard a plastic bag on my floor. I thought it just must have been blown by the fan and didn't think much of it UNTIL something darted by and hid behind my decorative pillows that I had set on the floor. I shot up and was standing on my bed yelling for Stu, then I saw it again A MOUSE! I don't do well with mice. They scurry about leaving a trail of disease ( at least that is how I feel)!

Stu grabbed a broom and in a sleepy stupor started swatting and chasing the mouse around the house. With each swipe of the broom I let out a yelp! Stu couldn't stop laughing at me. He was unsuccessful though, and he trapped it in our storage closet under the stairs and said he would get it the next day. I can't sleep with the thought of a mouse in the house!

The next day Stu started cleaning out the closet and there it was again. He trapped it and our neighbor came over to help. They barricaded themselves in the closet and all I could hear was banging and yelling and then it was over. The mouse had run himself into one of the traps we had set. I was sooooo relieved, but apparently my children were angry. They kept yelling that we were murderers and "how would you feel if we tried to kill you" Needless to say I spent the rest of the day disinfecting EVERYTHING!

The next day at church Cam chose to yell and I mean yell as loud at possible " YOU ARE SOOO MEAN DAD"..."YOU KILLED THAT MOUSE"! On the way home from church the boys asked if they could keep their church clothes on and have a funeral for "Ricky" their pet mouse. They picked flowers and stuck a stick in the ground where the mouse was buried. Kids are funny!

As a side note...Also on Saturday I was weeding and found a HUGE black widow spider and it's egg sack in our sprinkler box. It freaked me out BAD! I probably used a whole can of bug spray on it. SO SICK!

Here comes the Wicked Witch!

Sooooo...My boys like to play dress up! I'm not ashamed to say it. They are constantly coming up with a new way to wear a bandana, finding the halloween costumes, sporting their cowboy hats and boots or shoving pretend swords and guns throught the belt loops on their pants. The best story is Camden waking up and pulling a 2 foot toy sword out of his pajama bottoms. He slept with it there.
Oh yeah, and Cam has also been wearing a tux vest around for DAYS thinking he looks so cool. I'm lucky if I can get him to wear a regular shirt longer than two minutes.
Now I don't have a problem with pretend... as long as thats all it is, but I think I am starting to get a complex. When my kids are playing pretend together and I start walking up the stairs or coming in the room I hear, "oh no run, it's the wicked witch!" or "Watch out it's the mean queen" or "Aaaahhh it's the Ugly step mother"! I just wonder why I'm never the beautiful princess. I would even take the fat fairy godmother. WHATEVER!

Vegas Trip

Last weekend Stu took me to Las Vegas for a bit of a get away. I think he wanted to go mostly because he hasn't had a new wardrobe EVER, and since he was starting his new job he really wanted to shop for clothes. I was up for it too since he has been wearing the same shirts since 1996 and I love any excuse to get to spend some time just with Stu.

We actually got some good stuff! We went with our good friends Josh and Katherine and My sis Kara came down and watched the kids (even Joss)! We had a lot of fun and a lot of good FOOD (buffet)! Although, we felt a little lame...We were so tired that we just crashed at around 10pm in a city that doesn't sleep. I guess we are kind of old and lame huh? We rode in our friends car and the air conditioning broke, GREAT. It was 104 on the way home. That was pretty toasty and dang FUNNY. Our friend said he was trying to give us a feel for how the pioneers felt crossing the desert. Thanks for that lesson Josh!

Joss the Boss is 1!

What a better way to celebrate mothers day weekend than to watch the unexpecting joy of a 1 year old. I love first birthdays...they don't expect anything and when the attention is turned on them they either cry or really enjoy it. Josslyn really enjoyed it. It was my first girl birthday party and it was fun. The best part was that my sister Kara and my brother Justin and his wife, Sarah all came down and joined in the fun.

10 things about my spunky 1 year old:

1. She growls and wrestles with the boys.

2. She is a momma's girl (My first child who chooses me over her dad)

3.She can say ma ma, da da, brae (for braden), baby, kara/sarah, hello and I think she just started to say thank you!

4. She's fiesty and not afraid to fight her older brothers for what she wants.ie...toys

5. She loves going outside and following her brothers around the yard.

6. She has a super high pitched girly squeal which can sometimes turn into a shriek if it isn't her way.

7. She goes crazy when someone knocks or rings the doorbell. Her eyes get huge, she makes an excited intake of breath, and runs around.

8. She eats rocks...always eating a rock. I don't know where she gets them most of the time.

9.She hates her hair done or shoes on.

10.She grabs my face and muwaahs me! (That is her kissing noise)

GIRL TRIP!

I love all my in-laws! I know everybody can't say that, but I feel blessed that I can. the first weekend in May, was the "Sisters Trip" and I was super glad to be included since I'm short on biological sisters.

Stu's Mom and Sisters decided St. George was the place and we all spent the weekend mostly eating and visiting, but there was some pedicures, shopping, tennis, and laying by the pool. It was a blast. I guess I really needed some girl time!
LOVE YOU GALS!

No Seth is not a girl...but he is fun too I guess. We missed you Cindi and Brittnee!

CAKE UPDATE

Waaaahhhhhaaahhh! I'll never brag again!
So after over 2 hours of working on the cake made from scratch and only 1 and 1/2 pieces (that was not enough for how much work I put in)for myself this is what happened to my coconut cake. I'm trying to just laugh, but.....
My 3 year old and a neighbor opened the dishwasher, climbed onto the counter and this is what I came into the kitchen to find. At least "they" enjoyed the cake. What you can't see is cake all over the kitchen floor and 4 other kids stuffing their faces.

And yes I wash red plastic disposable cups...you can't be too thrifty ha ha ha!

Family Pictures HELP!

Hey there...Does anybody have any fresh ideas on what we can do for our family pictures. Ie...like what we should wear, where we should take them or how to get them to look halfway decent? I know there are some great picture takers out there, and I am ready for a good one for this one minute that I am actually not pregnant!
HELP!!!

Coconut Cake

Okay, so I never make anything from scratch, but I got a hankering yesterday (I always want to bake on fast Sunday) to make Paula Deans Coconut cake, and I was pretty proud of myself. The frosting wasn't as fluffy as hers, but it tasted like coconut goodness!
